MZ Wallace co-founders Monica and Lucy are pleased to announce a special collaboration
with the culinary community Food52, another entrepreneurial company headed by two women:
Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs. Designed to be the ultimate farmers market tote, the
MZW × F52 bag is perfectly sized to hold everything from fresh flowers and produce
to a baguette and bottle of wine.
Everyone involved has a long, passionate history with The Edible Schoolyard Project – a program founded years ago in Berkeley, California by the now legendary Alice Waters – and is excited to donate a portion of the proceeds from this tote to fund their nationwide initiatives which support hands-on educational experiences around gardening, food, health, and environment, geared toward schools and children.
We have long admired the work of the Edible Schoolyard Project, so we are pleased
to announce that for every purchase of our new farmers market tote, we will donate $50 to
the Edible Schoolyard Project and Founding Edible Schoolyards nationwide.
First established in Berkeley, California in 1995 by Alice Waters, the mission of the
Edible Schoolyard Project is to build and share an edible education curriculum for kindergarten
through high school. Since 2005, the model has spread with the launch of six independent
Founding Edible Schoolyards in: New Orleans, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Greensboro,
Lake Placid, and New York City. The Edible Schoolyard Network at edibleschoolyard.org
now maps and connects more than 3,800 programs in all 50 states and 53 countries
dedicated to providing an edible education for all.
Food52 was founded in 2009 by former New York Times food editor Amanda Hesser
and food writer Merrill Stubbs. The site is a content and commerce destination for home
cooks, where visitors can find everything from recipes and tableware to inspiration
and information, all in one place. With an approachable and inspiring food philosophy,
Food52 has amassed an active community of more than 300,000 members.
Founded in 1999 by Monica Zwirner and Lucy Wallace Eustice, two native
New Yorkers, MZ Wallace is a SoHo-based accessories brand crafting essential everyday
handbags. Nearly 15 years later the founding principles of the company remain unchanged:
superior quality, timeless style, and purpose-driven design.
We asked what color you would want to tote to the market – navy blue or forest green?
Following a spirited debate, navy prevailed. Many thanks to everyone who voiced an opinion.
We’re excited to deliver the final version soon.
